About

A calm puzzle about order and patience

Arrow Puzzle is a free browser puzzle about the small joy of watching a tangled board unravel, one line at a time.

The idea

Arrow escape puzzles are easy to explain and surprisingly deep: a board full of winding arrows and one question. In what order should they leave? We wanted a version that respects the player. It loads fast, reads clearly, stays fair about difficulty and never tricks anyone into a tap or a purchase.

How the levels are made

Every level starts as a drawing: the board is packed edge to edge with lines in one of nine layout styles, from wall-hugging labyrinths to nested hairpins, spirals and woven tiles. The generator then decides which end of each line becomes the arrowhead by playing the board forwards, only ever placing a head where its path to the edge is already clear. That makes every board solvable by construction, and a separate validator replays the solution and checks every line before a level ships. Difficulty is tuned by board size, line length, how deeply the arrows depend on each other and how few ways in there are, and every level is checked against its neighbours so no two boards look alike. After level 500, endless mode uses the same tools to keep producing fresh puzzles.
