How to play
One simple rule and hundreds of ways to make it interesting. Here are the basics, the scoring and a few strategies.
- Can move now
- Blocked right now (tutorial only)
- Clear path
- Path blocked
The rule
Every arrow is a line through the grid with an arrowhead at one end. When you tap it, the head travels straight ahead and the rest of the line follows its own path, like a train on a track. If every square in front of the head is empty all the way to the edge, the arrow escapes. If any other line is in the way, the arrow bumps into it and slides back. Only the path ahead of the arrowhead matters. The shape of the body never blocks anything. Remove every arrow to win.
Controls
On phones and tablets, tap anywhere on an arrow to send it. With a mouse, click an arrow to send it (hovering only gives it a subtle highlight). With a keyboard, press Tab or the arrow keys to move between arrows and Enter to send one. Shortcuts: U undo, H hint, R restart, P pause, + / − zoom and 0 to fit the board.
Big boards and zoom
Later levels are dense mazes with hundreds of cells. Pinch (or scroll, or use the zoom buttons) to zoom in, drag to move around and tap the fit button to see the whole board again. Taps are forgiving: tapping just next to a line still picks that line, and dragging never counts as a move.
Hearts, moves and stars
Every tap counts as a move, and par is the number of arrows. The three tutorial levels are free practice. From level 4 you get a few hearts (5 at first, 4 from level 51 and 3 from level 301, one fewer on ★ challenge levels) and each bump costs one. Run out and you retry the level. You earn 3 stars for a flawless run (no bumps, hints or undos), 2 stars for a few mistakes and 1 star for any completion. Your best result is always kept.
Hints, undo and highlights
You get 3 hints per level. Each one highlights an arrow that can escape right now, preferring the one that frees the most others. Undo brings back the last arrow you sent, but hearts lost to bumps are not refunded.
Strategy tips
- Start at the edges. Arrowheads near the border pointing outward are usually free.
- Follow the head, not the body. Long winding lines only need the straight path in front of their head.
- Find the bottleneck. A line that crosses many paths is worth clearing early.
- Work backwards. Ask which arrow must leave last, then what has to leave before it.
- Slow down when hearts appear. A moment of planning is cheaper than a bump.
Nine layout styles
The arrows always look and behave the same, but every level is drawn in one of nine layouts, so no two boards read alike:
- Labyrinth: Long lines that hug each other and wind through the whole board.
- Hairpins: Nested U-turns folded into tight columns.
- Ribbons: Long parallel bands that hook back at the ends.
- Spiral: Lines that coil inward around a hidden centre.
- Mosaic: A patchwork of blocks, each with its own pattern.
- Circuit: Straight corridors and sharp right-angle turns.
- Frames: Concentric rings that lock the centre in.
- Weave: Short strands crossing like a woven basket.
- Stairs: Zigzag staircases stepping across the board.
Difficulty tiers
- Tutorial (levels 1–3): Three short lessons: escaping, blocking and long winding arrows.
- Medium (levels 4–20): Real puzzles begin: packed boards and chains of blockers.
- Challenging (levels 21–50): Bigger mazes, new layouts and long dependency chains.
- Hard (levels 51–100): Layered blocking and many moves that only look possible.
- Very Hard (levels 101–200): Dense boards with long lines that demand careful tracing.
- Advanced (levels 201–300): Highly interconnected lines with little room for guessing.
- Expert (levels 301–400): Huge, intricate mazes that reward spatial reasoning.
- Master (levels 401+): Master-level mazes packed edge to edge. Every tap counts.
